Motor insurance glossary

Plain-language definitions of the terms that appear during a quote.

THE SHORT VERSION

Plain-language definitions of the terms that appear during a quote.

01 / THE DETAILS

The words used in a quote

A premium is the price charged for the insurance cover. An excess is an amount you may pay towards a qualifying claim. An endorsement is a policy-specific term or change to standard wording. Each definition must be read in the context of the insurer’s documents.

02 / THE DETAILS

The people and the policy

The policyholder is the person who enters the policy contract. A named driver is a driver specifically identified as covered where the policy provides. The insurer assumes the insured risk under the contract; the website brand may have a different commercial role.

03 / THE DETAILS

Your payment breakdown

The base premium is the insurance amount before GreenOnMID’s charge. The service fee is a separate 10% charge on that premium, displayed before checkout. The total payable is their sum, rounded to the nearest penny.
