Temporary car insurance

Understand what a short-term policy can do, how to choose dates and what to verify before driving.

THE SHORT VERSION

Understand what a short-term policy can do, how to choose dates and what to verify before driving.

01 / THE DETAILS

When a temporary policy makes sense

Annual cover is designed for regular, ongoing use. A temporary policy can suit a specific period of driving, such as collecting a vehicle or borrowing one for a trip. GreenOnMID quotations use cover periods between 1 and 28 days, but the insurer decides whether a driver, vehicle and intended use qualify.

02 / THE DETAILS

Choose the right dates

You should know the precise date and time you need cover to begin and end before applying. Allow time to check the vehicle details and any policy conditions. A quote on screen is not permission to drive: wait until the insurer has actually confirmed the policy and its effective start time.

03 / THE DETAILS

Compare more than the total

Read the permitted use, excess, named driver, vehicle and geographical limits before deciding. GreenOnMID shows the underlying premium and an additional 10% service fee separately; the amount at checkout is the combined price. Different products may have different cancellation rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Is a temporary quotation automatically insurance?

No. Cover only exists when the insurer has accepted the application and issued confirmation for the relevant dates.

Can I choose any vehicle?

No. Vehicle type, age, value, modifications and driver details may affect eligibility.
